Title: SDSC PM Notification, 11/15/11 5:00-9:00pm, Solaris server patching
Description: On Tuesday, 11/15/2011, between 5:00 PM and 9:00 PM, SDSC will be patching the NFS server “carlsbad” and other high-impact Solaris systems.
During this maintenance window several services will be intermittently unavailable, including:
–Solaris Login hosts: multivac.sdsc.edu and pauline.sdsc.edu
–Email: Users may experience a brief delay in delivery to @sdsc.edu recipients, however all mail will be queued and delivered as soon as possible. SDSC IMAP mail Users will experience delays and connection failures during the reboots.
–Web Services: The NFS server reboots will cause the webfarm unix hosts to hang, Websites served from these hosts will be unavailable.
–NFS services to UNIX hosts: During the required NFS server reboots most UNIX workstations will hang. This is expected to be about 10 minutes.
–VMWare VM Hosts: Luray will be rebooted, affecting NFS services provided to VMWare systems.
–Solaris VM Hosts: Hydra and Sybil will be rebooted, affecting all Solaris guest systems.
–Linux VM Hosts: Guest systems will be paused during NFS outage but will not be rebooted.
