SDSC Planned Maintenance – Portmapper block at network border – 28 Nov 2018

On Wednesday, 28 November 2018, SDSC’s Security Team will implement a network border block that prevents hosts running the RPC Portmapper service (port 111/udp) on SDSC’s networks from becoming unwilling participants in distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks. SDSC Outage Notification – Firewall Network Issues – 26 Nov 2018, 14:35-14:50

On 26 November 2018 between roughly 14:30 and 14:50, systems behind the SDSC firewalls experienced limited network connectivity. Engineers have corrected the issue and systems are accessible. Please contact SDSC Operations or regular support channels with further questions.

SDSC Maintenance – Routine VMware host patching, 19-20 Nov 2018

Starting this evening, SDSC will patch underlying VMware ESXi hosts to address security vulnerabilities. These patches have been tested and have shown no issues. This will not affect the running VM guests as each ESXi server will be placed into maintenance mode which performs a live-migration to other hardware.
