SDSC Planned Maintenance – Windows desktops patch/reboot – 18 Sept 2018, 17:00-23:00

[Update – 22:57] All maintenance has been completed and SC-VAULT has been migrated to the new server. Please contact support if you have trouble accessing the shares.

On 18 Sept 2018 at 17:00, IT Systems will be patching SDSC AD Windows desktop and laptops against recently released vulnerabilities. The installation of the patches should take approximately 1 hour and will require at least one reboot when completed.

We strongly encourage all users with AD laptops, who do not need them at home that evening, to please leave them in their office, turned on, logged out, and plugged into the network. Any users taking their AD laptops home, before or during the patching cycle, will have the patches applied the next time they are connected to the network and communicate with the update server. The patches will then install and the machine may require a reboot at some point during the day. Users taking their laptops home should plan for this eventuality.

IT Systems will also be patching all Windows Servers. Services such as file shares, printing, SharePoint and Citrix will be intermittently unavailable as the machines are rebooted between 17:00 and 23:00.

IT Systems will also be using this PM to migrate SDSC users’ “My Files on SC-VAULT” directories to a new server. The migration should be transparent, however, if you are having trouble accessing your files on SC-VAULT after the migration, please contact the helpdesk.

Please contact the SDSC Helpdesk if you have any questions or concerns.
