SDSC Emergency Maintenance – Core Router Maintenance – 25 Feb 2021,

[Update 03:00] All work has been completed. Please contact colosupport@sdsc.edu with any questions or concerns

[Update 02:25] Engineers are still working to verify and recover stale NFS mountpoints. Some webpages may be unavailable while the NFS filesystems are unavailable.

[Update 01:16] Engineers are still verifying functionality of routes. Some services including project storage and USS storage are unavailable from some managed hosts and webservers.

[Update 00:33] Engineers are still working on the issues. Network routes have been inconsistently operating.

[Update 00:03] Routers and route engines are back online, but still seeing outage between some firewalled networks and non-firewalled networks.

[Update 23:17] The network divertion began at 23:07 and we are still seeing incomplete network paths. Engineers are investigating.

Tonight, 25 Feb 2021 at 23:00, SDSC will perform emergency maintenance on a core networking router. Two network outages of approximately 90 seconds each will be experienced while engineers perform the maintenance.

SDSC will divert traffic to the redundant router at the beginning of the window. While network paths reconverge, the first 90 second outage will occur. We anticipate the maintenance will take about 10 minutes plus additional time for engineers to validate configurations and functionality. Following the work on the router, the primary unit will take over routing, resulting in the second 90 second outage.

This will impact most SDSC IP space including in-office connections, datacenter-hosted systems, and managed platforms.
